ArcGIS for mapping – evaluation

After attending AlphaGIS’s three-day onsite training I subscribed for the Esri 21-day ArcGIS Pro trial to get more insight into GIS mapping and evaluate, how these methods could be applied to the Greenground Map project. My aim was to evaluate if transferring schematic maps into geographically accurate maps would improve the workflow and help make more accurate maps.

During the trial, I used several new working methods including geocoding Google Map data; importing and working with various data formats in ArcGIS (shape files, GPX, tables) as well and preparing & running ArcGIS analytics to measure nearest distances.

The resulting data-rich GIS layout can be applied as a base for a new schematic map and improve accuracy as well as enhance the data integrity of paper maps.
